At least 2014 is looking up

Tomorrow's game seems pointless as I anticipate us being in NYC for the Pinstripe bowl regardless of a W or a L.

Figured I'd try to lay out the 2014 deep depth chart with some of my thoughts as best as I could....

QB- Golson, Zaire, Kizer
(B+, I'm interested in seeing how far Golson has progressed this spring, and I hope BK doesn't use a scholarship on AH because he was very disappointing this year )

RB- Folston, McDaniel, Bryant, GAIII, Carlisle
(A-, I may be a doom cryer here but I heard a few nasty rumors that Folston may be looking to transfer closer to home. If that is not the case I am excited to see Bryant get some snaps, since he was so highly touted out of high school. I think the ship has sailed on Carlisle getting significant playing time at ND and I think GAIII is out classed by Folston and Bryant.

WR- Daniels, Robinson, Brown, Hunter, Prosise, Onawalu, Fuller
(A, TJ will be missed, but Daniels has proven to be a very dynamic receiver. Robinson was excellent at times this year and should have a great spring. I am confident in this group.)

TE- Niklaus, Koyack, Welch
(B+, Niklaus progressed nicely this year and should continue to improve. Koyack caught a few touchdowns and has shown he can make some pretty good blocks when we need him to. I see Welch coming back for a 5th year.

OL- Stanley, Elmer, Lombard, Bivin, Martin,
(A- Not so sure about Bivin, but I liked him as a recruit and think he has tremendous potential. I like Stanley and Elmer as the OTs, I think they will help the offense and having Martin and Lombard in the back makes this one of the better units ND has had in a while.)

DL- Day, Jones, Hounshell, Springman, Utupo, Roschell
(B It is going to be hard to replace Nix and Tuitt, Day is a hell of a player though)

ILB- Grace, Moore
(C+ I see potential here, but these guys have a lot to prove)

OLB- Smith, Okwara, Williams, Councell
(B- Smith is a freak athlete, but I think our linebacker core is fairly weak except for him)

CB- Russell, Butler, Luke, Brown
(B- Russell is a 3 year starter at this point, but Bennett Jackson will be missed. There will be some growing pains here)

S- Hardy, Shumate, Redfield, Farley,
(B- Hopefully BK gets Redfield on the field next year. I know there may be plays to move Shumate around, but I think Farley is terrible and much prefer Shumate. I am also not sure about this, but I think Collinsworth has a 5th year)

All in all, it looks the offense will be better than the D. GO IRISH!

The offense was great under Charlie Weiss doesn't instill very much hope for me. I'm not very optimistic until we get a change at the top. Frankly. I'm not too impressed with Diaco lately either.

Goldendomer5 - you forgot a very important position - HEAD COACH. What grade for him?

I'm giving him a C minus. If we lost on senior day it would have most certainly been an F.
